The Airbus-BMW Quantum Computing Challenge, titled "The Quantum Mobility Quest", was a year-long international competition launched in December 2023 and hosted by The Quantum Insider to identify quantum computing applications for aviation and automotive mobility problems. Phase one received detailed proposals from over 100 teams across more than 25 countries. Finalists were given Amazon Braket credits and access to QPUs from IonQ, IQM, QuEra, and Rigetti. Five winning teams — from the University of Southern California, University of Hamburg, 4colors Research (UK), Quandela (France), and TU Delft — were announced at Q2B Silicon Valley on 10 December 2024, each awarded EUR 30,000 across five categories: Quantum Simulation, Quantum Solvers, Quantum-powered Logistics, Quantum-Enhanced Autonomy, and the Golden App.
